LeBron James will miss the Los Angeles Lakers’ final two games of the 2021-22 NBA season because of a sprained left ankle that has sidelined him for five of the past six games, the team announced Friday.
The ankle was recently reevaluated by Lakers’ medical staff, and “it was determined that due to the ankle sprain James suffered in a game on March 27th, he will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season to allow for continued healing and an expected full recovery,” a statement said.
The Lakers will conclude the season with games Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Crypto.com Arena and Sunday at Denver. They have lost eight consecutive games, dropping their record to 31-49 and have been eliminated from the race a berth in the league’s play-in tournament or playoffs.
