A wind advisory is in effect in parts of Los Angeles County from noon until 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

West winds from 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected in the Antelope Valley, Lancaster and Palmdale.

Gusty winds can reduce visibility from blowing dust, can make driving difficult and affect roadways, including Highway 14 and Highway 138.

The NWS recommends using caution when driving, especially those in high-profile vehicles, and securing outdoor objects.

A wind advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday in Lockwood Valley, Mount Pinos, Acton, and Mount Wilson.

Northwest winds from 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected along Interstate 5.
