With sunny skies expected this weekend, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Friday issued warnings to avoid ocean waters at five beaches due to high bacteria levels.
The affected beaches are:
— Walnut Creek at Paradise Cove, entire swim area;
— Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu, 100 yards up and down the coast from the lagoon;
— Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey, entire swim area;
— Castlerock Storm Drain at Topanga County Beach, 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain; and
— Santa Monica Pier, 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier.
Meanwhile, previous warnings were lifted for the following beach areas where recent sample results identified water quality levels within state standards:
— Windward Storm Drain at Venice Beach;
— Solstice Creek at Dan Blocker County Beach;
— Sweetwater Canyon Storm Drain at Carbon Canyon Beach; and
— Ramirez Creek at Paradise Cove.
