A man struck and killed by a freight train in Glendale was publicly identified Saturday.
He was 52-year-old Dennis Ricketts, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy was pending.
Ricketts was hit at about 2 a.m. Friday near the intersection of San Fernando Road and California Avenue, just south of the Ventura (134) Freeway, according to a Glendale Police Department spokesman.
The victim ended up under the train and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was unclear what the man was doing on the tracks when he was fatally injured, the spokesman said.
Video recorded at the location showed police officers investigating alongside a stopped freight train.
