Horror fans in Los Angeles County looking for a new thrill will soon have an overnight immersive horror camp just a short drive away when Camp Coffin Creek debuts in Chino next month.

Nightmare Rising Haunted Attraction announced Thursday the launch of the camp, which it describes as Southern California’s first fully immersive overnight horror camping experience. The event is designed to place participants inside an interactive slasher-style storyline rather than a traditional walk-through haunted attraction.

The 12-hour experience will be held on 400 acres at SC Village in Chino, with campers navigating a series of horror-themed challenges and encounters from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Organizers said performers remain part of the experience throughout the night, with guests becoming active participants in the unfolding story.

Camp Coffin Creek will be offered Aug. 21, 22, 28 and 29.

Activities include three professionally produced haunted attractions: “Zombie Survival Fight,” a tactical squad-based mission featuring gel blaster weapon upgrades; “Zombie Survival Flight,” a pursuit through a sewer system; and “Alone in the Woods,” an isolated trek through wooded terrain.

The overnight event will also feature a hands-on special effects makeup workshop led by Eric Fox, a contestant on SyFy’s “Face Off,” along with scavenger hunts, horror-themed camp games, a gel blaster shooting range and outdoor screenings of classic horror films, organizers said.

“You are not watching a slasher movie. You are inside one,” the Camp Coffin Creek production team said in a statement. “There are no exits, no guided tours, and no safe distances. Every hour has a purpose, and what lives in the dark will actively pursue you until sunrise.”

Because performers may make physical contact with guests, participants must be at least 13 years old. Those ages 13 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and all attendees will be required to sign liability waivers, organizers said.

General admission is $120 and includes a tent rental, event T-shirt and access to all activities.
