The first week of August will offer little let-up in the heat throughout the Inland Empire, where the mercury will be at or near 100 degrees in the Riverside metropolitan area going into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
“High temperatures … will generally range from a few degrees above average near the coast to 4 to 8 degrees above average for inland areas,” the agency said in a statement Monday.
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for the Coachella Valley and desert locations to the east until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The ridge of high pressure that settled over the region at the end of last week, ratcheting up temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above average, will give way Tuesday, replaced by troughs that may siphon monsoonal moisture out of southern Arizona and into the Palo Verde and Coachella valleys, though measurable rain potential remains very limited, according to the Weather Service.
In the Riverside area, daytime highs are forecast to rise into the upper 90s Tuesday to Sunday, with lows generally in the low 70s nightly.
Across the Coachella Valley, highs will top out around 110-113 degrees all week long, with overnight temps in the upper 80s.
The Temecula Valley will be among the coolest places in the Inland Empire for the week, with the mercury peaking in the low 90s from Tuesday to Sunday, while lows will settle in the low to mid 60s at night, according to meteorologists.
