Aerosmith will return to the stage for two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl later this month, the band announced Wednesday, two days after teasing the shows in a video featuring lead singer Steven Tyler changing the venue’s marquee.
The “California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends” concerts will be held Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 and will feature Aerosmith performing with a lineup of guest artists including The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Billy Idol, Sammy Hagar, Slash and Tom Morello.
Other scheduled performers include Andrew Watt, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, Eric Church, Alice in Chains members Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez, Marcus King, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Train singer Pat Monahan, Steve Stevens and Godsmack singer Sully Erna.
The lineup will vary by night, with final lineups to be announced at or near showtime, according to organizers. Additional artists and surprise guests are also expected to be announced.
The shows mark a return to the stage for Aerosmith more than two years after the band ended touring because of Tyler’s vocal injury.
Aerosmith teased the announcement Monday in a video showing Tyler placing letters on the Hollywood Bowl marquee with photographer Ross Halfin.
“It’s `Aerosmith and Friends,’ Ross … Aerosmith and Friends!” Tyler says in the video as the dates Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 are displayed on the marquee.
The band canceled its farewell tour in 2024, saying it could not continue after Tyler sustained a vocal injury only a few shows into the tour’s 2023 launch. Tyler has since performed at benefit shows and awards ceremonies.
Formed in Boston in 1970, Aerosmith became one of rock’s most successful acts with songs including “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk This Way,” “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and has won four Grammy Awards.
A Citi cardmember presale will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday and continue until 10 a.m. Friday. Additional presales will be held ahead of the general ticket sale beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, organizers said.
