[symple_googlemap title=”Koreatown fires” location=”100 South Ardmore Avenue, Los Angeles, CA” height=”300″ zoom=”13″]A fire gutted two homes and damaged two others Friday in Koreatown, displacing about 20 residents, but no injuries were reported.

Arson investigators were looking into the cause of the fire, Stewart said, noting that 911 callers reported hearing an explosion.

More than 90 firefighters battled the flames in the 100 block of South Ardmore Avenue for 49 minutes, knocking down the blaze shortly after 12:30 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Two of the four homes that caught fire were heavily damaged, with moderate and minor damage caused to the other two homes, she said.

Firefighters managed to corral a dog that had been running loose in the yard of one of the homes and returned the animal to its owner, she said.

The American Red Cross was providing assistance to displaced residents.
