A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a fiery wreck on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in El Monte.
The crash was reported about 3:15 p.m., west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, officials said.
The rider was ejected onto the freeway’s eastbound side and the motorcycle caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash closed the express lanes in both directions and one eastbound main lane and a SigAlert was issued, according to the CHP.
Westbound lanes were reopened about 6:30 p.m. and the eastbound side of the freeway was all clear by about 7:45 p.m., the CHP reported.
No other details were known about the crash, including why the rider was ejected from the bike.
