Despite an inauguration official’s announcement that the famed gay pop star would be part of the Trump festivities, Elton John says the idea is simply and totally false.
Anthony Scaramucci — a vice chair of Trump’s presidential inaugural committee — told BBC News that “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the [National] Mall for the inauguration.”
CNN also quoted him as saying: “This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance.”
But John’s spokeswoman Fran Curtis wrote CNN Wednesday: “He will NOT be performing at Trump’s Inauguration!”

Reactions to the refusal:
@BadIdeasVs He’s already been pressured and will not show. The left is a cult. https://t.co/qMaifGp0zd

Elton John will not be playing at the Inauguration even though he does specialize in high-profile funerals

@youngsinick If Elton John is performing at the inauguration I’ll eat every hat I own. Most of them glorifying our National Park System.@NPS
