Firefighters Saturday were battling a brush fire that was burning at least 125 acres of vegetation in Moreno Valley.
The fire was reported around 2 p.m. Saturday in the area of state Route 60 and Ironwood Avenue. Responding crews said the fire was threatening the freeway, which was closed at Gilman Springs Road.
“The fire will be impacting Highway 60 in approximately 10 minutes,” firefighters reported around 3:30 p.m.
At the initial time of report, the fire was burning 10 acres but grew to 126.7 acres by 3:50 p.m.
Additional engines and air attack were assisting with the fire.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
