To paraphrase Lyndon Johnson’s adage about “Walter Cronkite and middle America” — If you’ve lost Caitlyn Jenner, you’ve lost the Republican transgender vote.

President Trump likely won’t be hurt politically, but the former Bruce Jenner had tough things to say about the White House occupant in an interview with Diane Sawyer.
“Here’s the deal: Yes, I did vote for Trump, but here’s the deal-breaker with the Republican party,” Jenner told Sawyer in a clip from her Friday night “20/20” interview.
“And the deal-breaker is: You mess with my community, you do the wrong thing with my community, you don’t give us equality and a fair shot, I’m coming after you.”
As the New York Daily News reported, Jenner told Sawyer about a quick chat with Trump during the inauguration.
“Trump invited her to play golf at his inauguration, but she no longer thinks that’s a good idea,” the paper said.
Jenner said: ”At that time, I thought it was a pretty good idea, but since Title IX, it’s not a good idea and so I won’t be playing golf with him.”
Probably a good thing for the commander in chief not to play 18 holes with the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion.
In 2009, Jenner told Golf Digest: “I did not start playing golf until I was 50. My wife bought me a membership at Sherwood Country Club in Westlake Village . . . for my 50th birthday. … I took to golf right away and eventually got my handicap down to a five. I try to get to the club and hit balls and work on my game every day, if I’m not working and am at home. My problem is that I can shoot 74 one day and turn around and shoot 97 and get to the point in the latter round.”
