The woman and the girl died at the scene of the 7:35 a.m. crash north of the Pomona (60) Freeway, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Their names were withheld pending notification of their relatives.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatally injured woman was the driver, and the girl who died was a passenger in the rear seat.

The survivors — listed only as females — were taken to a hospital in critical condition, the CHP reported.

It’s unknown why the 2005 Pontiac Grand Am went off the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the CHP’s East Los Angeles Area office at (323) 980-4600.
