Coroner’s officials Saturday released the name of a 38-year-old woman killed in a crash between a vehicle and a big rig on the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Palmdale.
The woman was identified as Bezawit Hailemichael of Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Hailemichael was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred near the Palmdale Boulevard exit at 2:55 a.m. Friday and prompted the closure of all northbound lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big rig was loaded with approximately 31,000 pounds of unknown cargo, the CHP said.
The No. 1 lane was reopened at 5 a.m. and the other lanes were opened at 8:33 a.m. The crash and subsequent death and accident investigation caused a massive traffic jam on the 14 Freeway, according to the CHP.
