Two barricades near downtown Los Angeles ended peacefully Tuesday afternoon.

A barricade that began about 12:30 p.m. in the 2800 bloc of Denby Avenue in the Elysian Park area ended when police threw gas canisters inside the home.

They had initially gone to the home about 12:30 p.m. on reports of a man having a “violent episode.” The man greeted police by throwing bottles at them with one officer having to be treated for minor injuries as a result, said Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera.

About the same time as police were wrapping up the Elysian Park barricade, another barricade in the Westlake area also came to a close.

The woman had barricaded herself in her home about 11 a.m. after a mental health worker came to evaluate her. She became belligerent and starting waving knives about.

She was taken into custody without incident, Herrera said.
