Firefighters battled a brush fire that burned 35 acres near Mead Valley Sunday.

The fire was reported at 2 p.m. Sunday in the 21000 block of Harford Park Lane, according to the nonprofit wildfire information service Watch Duty.

Responding crews initially reported the fire burning at a moderate rate of spread in light, flashy to medium fuels, with a potential to reach 100 to 200 acres. Multiple hand crews, water tenders and helicopters were battling the fire, which was threatening multiple structures.

The fire’s forward progress was stopped at 35 acres at around 3:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire was unclear.
