Three people involved in a two-vehicle crash in Menifee remained hospitalized Sunday as investigators try to piece together what happened.
According to the Menifee Police Department, a black Chevrolet truck and a grey Pontiac sedan collided at about 10 a.m. Saturday near Holland and Evans roads.
The driver of the sedan suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
Two passengers, who were also in the sedan, became trapped in the wreckage and were freed by firefighters before being taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said one of the passengers was a juvenile.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, according to police.
Authorities don’t believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
Investigators said a third vehicle, described only as a white Scion Xb, may have also been involved in the crash, but did not remain at the scene.
Police later learned that a large group of cyclists might have witnessed the collision and urged anyone who may have any information about the crash to contact Sgt. Matthew Bloch at 951-723-1565, or the MPD front desk at 951-723-1500.
