A motorist was killed Sunday when his vehicle went over the side of the road on State Route 74 in Lake Elsinore, authorities said.
The crash occurred a little after 7:25 a.m. on State Route 74, west of Grand Avenue, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.
The vehicle went through a guardrail and over the right side of the road, possibly 100 feet down, and caught fire, the California Highway Patrol said. The motorist was the lone occupant inside his vehicle.
A representative from the Riverside County coroner’s office was called to the scene at 8:09 a.m.
