An explosion in an underground power vault in Santa Clarita may have some Southern California Edison customers temporarily without power but repairs were quickly undertaken, a Los Angeles County Fire Department official said Monday.

The explosion at Lyons Avenue and Fourl Road was reported at 10:21 p.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett.

“We received several 911 calls about a vault explosion,” Pickett said. The explosion caused a 3-foot-square cement cover to fly off the vault.

As of midnight, there were no reports of power outages in Santa Clarita due to a vault explosion on Edison’s website.
