A convicted sex offender wanted by Riverside police for alleged parole violations was located and arrested Wednesday without incident.
William Leroy Carson, 55, was booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of being in violation of California sex registration requirements under Penal Code section 290.
Carson is being held without bail.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the parolee had been sought for over a month after failing to notify law enforcement of his whereabouts, which is required under PC section 290.
Carson has a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, according to the California Department of Justice’s Megan’s Law website.
He is a known transient in the Riverside area.
The parolee is one of seven who the Riverside PD’s Sex Registrant Compliance Unit began actively searching for in the fall. Now, all but two are in custody.
The remaining registrants at large are 22-year-old Darone Waltrip, who is homeless, and 23-year-old Lashane Rosas, according to the police department.
Waltrip is 5-feet-7 inches tall and 135 pounds, and according to recent photographs, is sporting a goatee. Rosas is 6-feet-1 inch tall and 180 pounds. Recent photos depict him wearing his hair in buns.
