The city of Beaumont’s 911 call system crashed Monday, causing emergency calls to be rerouted to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

The outage occurred shortly after 2 p.m., but there was no immediate word on what triggered it.

The Beaumont Police Department released a statement saying “lines are currently being rerouted to other law enforcement agencies for response.”

Fire and medical calls in Beaumont are always sent to the Riverside County Fire Department, which is under contract with the city.

The police department’s non-emergency business line has not been impacted by the outage, and authorities advised that it could be used as an alternate. That number is 951-769-8500.

There was no indication regarding when 911 call service would be restored in the city.
