An 18-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were arrested in Burbank for allegedly stealing a catalytic converter, police said Wednesday.
Officers responded around 3:25 a.m. Tuesday to the 1400 block of North Naomi Street to a report about a catalytic converter theft in progress, according to the Burbank Police Department.
The victim told officers he opened his front door after hearing the sound of grinding metal outside, and saw a man standing next to the hood of his Toyota Sequoia and a second person under the vehicle. Both suspects quickly fled the area in a vehicle, after which the victim looked under his truck and confirmed the catalytic converter had been stolen, police said.
Officers searched the area and located the suspects, who were making their way toward a freeway. Officers found a reciprocating saw, a cut catalytic converter and evidence that further indicated the two suspects were involved in the theft, police said.
Nancy Guevara-Lopez, 18, and Guillermo Martinez-Fabian, 27, were arrested and booked on suspicion of grand theft, with bail set at $20,000, according to Burbank police.
