A 48-year-old man was arrested Saturday for allegedly stalking and kidnapping a woman in Moreno Valley.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Moreno Valley station received a call from the alleged victim’s family on Saturday reporting that the woman was taken against her will from the 13000 block of Elsworth Avenue.
Deputies located the woman’s vehicle with her and the suspect, Johnny Melvin Monroe, inside. The woman told deputies she was previously involved in a relationship with Monroe, but had made it clear she was no longer interested in him.
Monroe had previously been arrested at the victim’s residence on multiple occasions, according to Sgt. Alfredo Medina, but he allegedly continued to seek her out.
During the Saturday incident, Monroe went to the victim’s residence and allegedly forced her into her vehicle and drove away against her will.
Monroe was subsequently booked on suspicion of stalking and kidnapping.
Anyone with additional information about the case was encouraged to contact investigator McCracken at 951-486-6700.
