Pappy + Harriet’s and the McCallum Theatre will host a partner event, “Emo Orchestra Feat. Hawthorne Heights,” next month, which is set to feature various beloved emo songs with an orchestra arrangement.
The concert will be held Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the McCallum Theatre at 73000 Fred Waring Drive.
“(Pappy + Harriet’s) have a rich history of presenting world-class performers and I have always respected what they bring to the music scene in the desert,” theatre president, CEO and artistic director Mitch Gershenfeld said in a statement. “This is a great opportunity for the McCallum to reach out to an audience which may not be familiar with us. We hope this joint venture will open the doors to additional co-presentations in the future.”
Theatre officials said Emo Orchestra will add a full orchestra arrangement to songs from bands such as Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance and Dashboard Confessional.
The live event will be a tribute to the music that shaped the so-called “emo” movement in the early 2000s, according to theatre officials.
“One of our favorite emo bands, Hawthorne Heights, played Pappy + Harriet’s for a sold-out night of pure joy last October and we are delighted these masters of the genre will be conducting an exhilarating symphony of sound and fan favorites in the lush, orchestral setting of the McCallum,” Lisa Elin and JB Moresco of Pappy + Harriet’s said in a statement.
