The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday to its highest amount since Dec. 1, increasing 1.1 cents to $4.941 following three consecutive decreases totaling eight-tenths of a cent.

The average price is a half-cent more than one week ago, 14.4 cents higher than one month ago and 1.8 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.553 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose 1.6 cents to $4.895 after three consecutive decreases totaling seven-tenths of a cent. It is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago but 13.3 cents more than one month ago and 1.3 cents higher than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.564 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose 2.6 cents to $3.438, its third consecutive increase. It rose two-tenths of a cent Wednesday and 1.6 cents Thursday.

The national average price is 3.8 cents more than one week ago and 16 cents higher than one month ago but 2.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.578 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“This is the time of year we normally see pump prices start to rise,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “And while prices have been rather pokey so far, they should begin to accelerate and move higher very soon.”
