Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives Thursday were investigating the shooting of an allegedly armed suspect by Pomona police officers.
Officers from the Pomona Police Department responded at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday to the 1400 block of West Ninth Street at a mobile home park regarding a shots fired call, according to the sheriff’s department, which is handling the police shooting investigation.
Sheriff’s officials said responding officers encountered a male suspect with a handgun, and the suspect fired shots at the officers, prompting at least one to return fire.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital, where he was considered stable, sheriff’s officials said. No officers were injured.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
