Motorists in the area of a future light rail line between Glendora and Pomona could encounter some temporary traffic stoppages starting Monday as train testing begins on the 9.1-mile route.
The line — the Foothill extension of what was previously known as the Metro Gold Line, now known as the A Line — stretches from roughly Barranca Avenue in Glendora, through Garey Avenue in Pomona, also affecting parts of San Dimas and La Verne.
The train testing is expected to continue through next Friday during the hours of roughly 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The following week, nightly testing will begin between the hours of 6 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., continuing through the end of the year.
During the testing, motorists could encounter lowering crossing gate arms, which will halt all vehicular and pedestrian traffic at crossing. People driving and on foot were warned to never go around lowered gates, and pedestrians should never walk on the train tracks.
The rail line extension is ultimately planned to reach Montclair.
