One person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and 26 drivers were cited for operating a motor vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license Saturday during a driver’s license checkpoint in Pomona.
The checkpoint was held at Garey and Lexington avenues between the hours of 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, the Pomona Police Department said. In addition, 1,261 vehicles were screened, resulting in 10 vehicle impounds.
DUI checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, according to the department. In 2023, the Pomona PD investigated 100 DUI collisions that resulted in two deaths and 60 injured people.
