Firefighters are investigating Wednesday if a series of fires in the Sherman Oaks area are connected and possibly started by the same suspect.

A fire at a Sherman Oaks apartment complex damaged several vehicles and the windows at two units Tuesday before firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department were able to extinguish the flames, one of at least three such blazes in the area, fire officials said.

Fires were also reported at the Worlds Market on Ventura Boulevard and at a garage on Columbus Avenue near Moorpark Street, firefighters said.

Firefighters responded at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday to 4721 Kester Ave., south of Camarillo Street, where they found and knocked down the flames at the carport of the apartment complex, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The Department of Water and Power was notified regarding damage that the electrical panels for the two exposed buildings sustained, Stewart added.

NBC 4 showed a Ring video with a possible suspect setting a fire in the carport.

The fire at the carport was one of three fires that burned overnight, forcing fire crews to scramble to extinguish them.

No injuries were reported.

Another fire was reported at the World Market in the 15200 block of Ventura Boulevard near Sepulveda Boulevard at around 11:30 p.m.

A third fire was reported at a garage behind homes in the 4600 block of Columbus Avenue at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities said multiple garage fires were set in the area.

There was another fire at the In-N-Out Burger on Van Nuys and Ventura boulevards reported on Wednesday.

Investigators with the LAFD and LAPD are working together to determine if the fires are connected.
