The Newport Beach Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body along the shoreline Monday.
The body was discovered at 8:52 a.m behind 303 43rd St. He was later identified as Daniel Baillie, 47, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Division.
A place of residence for Baillie was not listed. An autopsy will be scheduled for later in the week, a division official said.
A watch commander for the Newport Beach Police Department and Jennifer Manzella, the department’s public information officer, could not be reached for immediate comment.
