An investigation continued Thursday into a traffic collision that left a 36-year-old driver with fatal injuries.
San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a multi-vehicle traffic collision at Sanderson Avenue shortly after 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department statement.
Arriving deputies and paramedics found “several” drivers with injuries. Paramedics pronounced Hemet resident Travis Maze was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.
The other drivers were transported to a hospital in the area with injuries described as “moderate.”
Preliminary investigation results from the San Jacinto Traffic Team suggested several vehicles were traveling northbound on Sanderson Avenue when a collision diverted Maze’s vehicle into oncoming traffic lanes, where it was struck by another vehicle heading the opposite direction, the department said.
Sanderson Avenue was temporarily closed between Cottonwood Avenue and Ramona Boulevard following the crash.
Anyone with relevant information was encouraged to call Deputy Cox at the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station at 951-654-2702.
