Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka has a new chief of staff, Stephanie Magnien Rockwell, it was announced Tuesday.
Magnien Rockwell will manage special projects, act on executive and administrative matters, provide executive-level staff support and represent the port before L.A. City officials and other stakeholders, port officials said. The port’s Internal Audit Division will also directly report to her.
Before her appointment, she was a legislative representative in the Workforce and Government Affairs Division, acting as the port’s liaison to City Hall.
Magnien Rockwell first joined the port in 2018 in the Contracts and Purchasing Division.
“Stephanie brings a highly diversified set of skills and experience to this important position,” Seroka said in a statement. “With her proven track record of leadership and results, we’re thrilled to elevate her into this new role.”
She previously held roles with the office of State Assemblywoman Judy Chu, former L.A. City Councilwoman Jan Perry and City Councilman Bob Blumenfield. Two years before joining the port, she also served as principal project coordinator with the office of the city administrative officer, according to port officials.
Magnien Rockwell earned her bachelor’s degree in international relations with a minor in business from USC and a master of public administration from California State University, Northridge.
