Fire crews Wednesday reached 98% containment on a brush fire that burned 109 acres east of Temecula, prompting evacuations over the weekend before it was largely brought under control.
The non-injury Mindy Fire was reported around 3:40 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Decoursey Road and Mindy Lane in Aguanga, east of Sage, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said about 100 personnel, 19 engines, three water tenders, two bulldozers, fur hand crews and numerous firefighting air tankers were assigned to the fire.
Evacuation orders for areas north of Wilson Balley Road, west of Cahuilla Heights Road, east of Benton Road and south of Red Mountain Road were issued Sunday when fire was at 72 acres. All evacuation orders and downgraded warnings were lifted the following day.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, crews continued mop-up and suppression repair efforts, and officials advised residents to use caution when traveling in the area.
