Police Tuesday are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal hit and run collision in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 9:57 p.m. Monday to the intersection of 74th and Figueroa Streets, and west of the Harbor (110) Freeway, regarding a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Officers at the scene reported the vehicle struck the man outside of a crosswalk and did not stop to assist the victim.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead.
There was no vehicle or suspect information.
