Crews Thursday swiftly halted the spread of a non-injury brush fire that broke out in the Sepulveda Basin amid scorching temperatures.
The fire was reported at 12:48 p.m. Thursday in the 15700 block of Burbank Boulevard, near Woodley Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Park rangers, air resources and a California Office of Emergency services responded to the fire burning uphill in slack wind between the Los Angeles River and Haskell Creek, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
Crews quickly halted the fire’s progress, but were expected to remain at the scene for hours mopping up and checking for hot spots.
The OES crew was part of a pre-deployment by the state as a heat wave continues to send temperatures in parts of Los Angeles past 100 degrees.
