A family dispute in the Westlake District led to a SWAT response Thursday.

Officers were sent to the 300 block of Lafayette Park Place, near Third Street, about 8:20 a.m. Thursday to investigate a report of a woman in her 40s armed with a knife, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

At some point during the morning, a SWAT team was called to the location. The standoff was ongoing two hours after it began.

According to a report from the scene, Lafayette Park Place was closed between Third and Sixth streets as officers tried to get the woman to surrender peacefully after what began as some kind of family disturbance.
