A 16-year-old teen who was shot to death near East Valley High School in North Hollywood was identified by county authorities Thursday.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner identified Danny Lopez as the victim of the shooting.
The shooting occurred just after 9 p.m. Saturday near Vineland Avenue and Chandler Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said the teen was approached by two suspects and one of them shot him before both fled the scene on foot.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It was not immediately known if the shooting was gang-related, police said.
