“Beverly Hills 90210” actor Ian Ziering has been sued by a man stemming from a fight the actor had with multiple mini-motorbike riders on New Year’s Eve in 2023.
Jacob Hernandez’s Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit alleges battery, assault, negligence, malicious prosecution and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. He seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
A representative for Ziering could not be immediately reached for comment on the suit filed Monday.
According to the suit, Hernandez, then 20, and his fellow bikers rode from downtown Los Angeles to Hollywood on Dec. 31, 2023. He says they found themselves in heavy traffic and that at one point Ziering, without provocation, got out of his car and started yelling at the plaintiff in a threatening manner.
Ziering, now 61, allegedly shoved Hernandez with both hands, causing the plaintiff to fall into his female friend to his right and both of them tumbled to the pavement along with their bikes, the suit states.
“After plaintiff and his female friend were able to get off the ground, a melee occurred between defendant and multiple individuals who came to the aid of plaintiff and his female friend, ” according to the suit, which additionally says the confrontation was recorded on video.
Hernandez still suffers from physical and emotional injuries, including panic attacks, and his motorbike was damaged and needed numerous repairs, the suit states. Ziering rushed to give his side of the story and claimed he was the victim, never stating that he was the one who started the altercation when he pushed Hernandez, the suit further states.
Hernandez was arrested in May 2024, but never charged, the complaint states.
