Caltrans is expected to reopen a 3.6-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard Friday between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive in the unincorporated community of Topanga, after crews complete the removal of debris flows from the roadway.

The stretch of road will reopen at 5 a.m. Friday, but will still have previous restrictions in place due to ongoing recovery efforts from the Palisades Fire and last winter’s storms, according to Caltrans.

It is normally closed to the public from midnight to 5 a.m. daily, and travelers were warned to expect delays and drive with caution through the work zone.

The stretch of highway was closed pre-emptively in anticipation of rainstorms on Tuesday.

Caltrans will continue monitoring storm impacts, as debris flows have continued since the road was closed Tuesday, and the rains predicted for this weekend may require the highway to be closed again.
