Warm temperatures were expected to continue across Riverside County for the beginning of the week, followed by a slight cooling trend by midweek, forecasters said Sunday.
“A cooling trend begins on Wednesday into late week as a low pressure system moves closer to the region, helping build the marine layer even further,” the National Weather Service said.
Temperatures were expected to reach as high as 80 in the downtown Riverside, Temecula and Hemet areas on Monday and Tuesday, dropping to the mid-70s by Wednesday.
In the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs areas, temperatures were expected to remain in the high 70s through Wednesday, before dropping to the mid 70s by Thursday, according to the NWS.
The NWS said current high temperatures were about 5 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year.
Forecasters also reported a chance for wet weather by Friday or next weekend. Rain chances for now remain near or below 15%, the NWS said.
By next Saturday, the downtown Riverside, Coachella and Palm Springs areas were expected to reach temperatures in the low 70s while Temecula and Hemet were expected to be in the high 60s, according to the NWS.
