A woman pleaded no contest Wednesday in connection with a DUI crash that killed a 76-year-old woman in West Hills nearly four years ago.
Nohemi Harrison, now 61, pleaded no contest to one felony count each of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
She is facing a maximum of 10 years in state prison, with sentencing set for April 22 in a San Fernando courtroom.
The charges stem from a March 12, 2022, head-on collision that killed Carol Singer in the 24000 block of Woolsey Canyon Road, near Valley Circle Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation determined that Harrison, then 57, was driving a 2021 Porsche and was at fault “when she drove her vehicle to the left of the double yellow lines while under the influence alcohol and/or drugs,” investigating California Highway Patrol Officer G. Alvarez said shortly after the collision.
Harrison remains free on bail and is required to undergo electronic monitoring and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
