A Pride celebration of community, visibility and activities bringing Coachella Valley residents to Cathedral City’s 10th annual LGBT+ Days continues Saturday and Sunday.
The inaugural “CommUNITY Strong Walk” will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, benefiting the Human Rights Campaign. The two-mile route will start and end at The Roost Lounge.
After the walk, the festival will feature food, drinks, artisan vendors and live entertainment, including the Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus and Pulp Vixen, until 9 p.m.
“American Idol” alum David Archuleta will headline a concert at the community amphitheater, at 68526 Avenue Lalo Guerrero.
“For our 10th anniversary, we knew we needed a headliner who not only possesses incredible talent but also embodies the spirit of resilience and authenticity,” Michael Westman, marketing manager of Montage Agency, said in a statement. “David’s journey reminds us that true strength comes from embracing who you are, even when it’s difficult. His voice, his story and his spirit perfectly align with out mission to celebrate the unbreakable bond of our commUNITY.”
The festivities will conclude Sunday with a vendor marketplace, a parade and bed race and a closing party at Agua Caliente Casino in Cathedral City
The celebration began Friday with an opening ceremony at City Hall with the raising of the Pride flag by Mayor Raymond Gregory and City Council members along with opening remarks by Gregory and a “Pro-Equality Rally.”

I hope they did a tribute to the late Greg Pettis, who served on the city council for years and was an important pioneer in the civil rights movement!
