A person was killed in a traffic crash Sunday morning, allegedly triggered by a wrong-way motorist on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Corona, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. on westbound freeway at the Green River Road off-ramp, where a vehicle — possibly a black Ford F-150 pickup truck — was slowly going eastbound in the westbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pickup truck subsequently triggered a crash involving at least five other vehicles — including a big rig, the CHP said.
All lanes of the westbound freeway were closed at 5:43 a.m. A SigAlert was issued at 5:56 a.m., closing the westbound lanes for at least two hours.
A representative from the coroner’s office was called to the scene at 6:22 a.m. — possibly for the driver of the black Ford pickup truck, authorities said.
A motorist who had been driving the big rig was transported to Corona Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, the CHP said.
There was no other immediate information available.
