The newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet has made its debut at the Port of Los Angeles, marking the West Coast arrival of the Star Princess, it was announced Wednesday.

The vessel arrived Tuesday and will offer a range of itineraries departing from the Los Angeles waterfront over the next 18 months, including cruises to the Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coast and through the Panama Canal, according to the cruise line.

“Princess Cruises has been an important and invaluable partner to the Port of Los Angeles for more than 60 years,” Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka said in a statement. “For Princess to add yet another cruise ship sailing from our LA Waterfront is terrific news, and a notable milestone in our decades-long partnership.”

The Star Princess, the newest addition to the Princess Cruises fleet, can accommodate about 4,300 passengers and features more than 2,100 staterooms, including suites, mini-suites and balcony cabins, officials said.

Passengers will have access to more than 30 dining and bar venues, multiple entertainment spaces, five pools, a fitness center and spa, as well as sports courts for activities such as pickleball and basketball.

“Bringing Star Princess to Los Angeles for her West Coast debut is a proud moment for Princess Cruises,” Princess Cruises Chief Marketing Officer Marie Lee said. “Los Angeles has always held a special place in our history — our very first cruise sailed from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera in 1965.”

Scheduled sailings from Los Angeles aboard the Star Princess include a 16-day Panama Canal cruise beginning Oct. 4, a seven-day Mexican Riviera voyage departing April 19, 2027, and shorter Pacific coastal trips, officials said.

Other ships in the Princess fleet — including Discovery Princess, Emerald Princess and Crown Princess — will also continue sailings from Los Angeles, offering routes to destinations such as Mexico, Hawaii and the California coast.

Port officials said cruise activity remains a major economic driver, with a record 241 ship calls and 1.6 million passengers recorded in 2025, generating an estimated $300 million for the local economy.

Each cruise ship visit generates about $1.3 million in local revenue within a two-mile radius of the port, according to officials.
