A woman walking outside a marked crosswalk was killed in a collision in Lancaster and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives Saturday are investigating the circumstances.
Sheriff’s deputies were called at 8:45 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Avenue J and Date Avenue where they learned a woman driving a white pickup struck the pedestrian.
Approximately one minute after the first crash, a man in a silver sedan was traveling west on Avenue J in the No. 2 lane and struck the pedestrian — who was on the ground — a second time, said Detective Jorge Diaz.
The pedestrian suffered significant trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crashes are under investigation, Diaz said.
