A fire that broke out Wednesday scorched 14 acres of vegetation in Cabazon and destroyed an outbuilding and four vehicles before it was stopped, authorities said.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Lemon and Lime streets, less than a mile south of Interstate 10, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered a trailer fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading quickly east into nearby brush, though no homes were immediately threatened.

A helicopter, one air attack and two tankers joined the firefight shortly before 3 p.m. and began making drops on the fire, according to reports from the scene.

Crews stopped the forward rate of spread at 3:28 p.m. and were expected to remain at the scene for roughly three hours to work on containment.

Additionally, one outbuilding and four vehicles were destroyed in the blaze, officials said.

The trailer apparently was not occupied.

No evacuation orders were immediately issued.

There was no immediate word regarding how the fire may have started.
