A brush fire erupted Thursday on the south end of Perris, scorching about five acres in open terrain between housing tracts as firefighters arrived.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 3:25 p.m. Thursday in the area of Pinnacle Street and Ethanac Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate through medium vegetation in the direction of a dirt road.
Cal Fire aircraft were immediately requested, but as of 3:50 p.m., they had not initiated operations.
Firefighters were working to establish hose lays to cut off the head of the brusher.
No evacuation orders appeared imminent, and the cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
