A 33-year-old man suspected in a series of arson fires in Pasadena has been taken into custody, authorities announced Thursday.
Manuel Marias was located by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Tuesday in Duarte, with the assistance of personnel from the Pasadena Police Department and Pasadena Fire Department, according to city of Pasadena spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.
The investigation began after multiple fires broke out in the city during the week of May 25, Derderian said. Marias was booked into the Temple Sheriff’s Station jail in Temple City with bail set at $400,000.
The investigation remained ongoing as detectives continued to work closely with fire investigators to determine whether additional fires may be connected to Marias.
Anyone with information regarding the series of fires was urged to call Sheriff’s Arson Investigator Oscar Corcio at 323-881-7500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
