A man refused hospital transport for a stab wound he suffered during an assault in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.

Officers dispatched at 6:40 p.m. Saturday to the 1700 block of Stanton Place regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call located the man, who was suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Paramedics treated him at the scene.

“The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and the adult male suspect were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The investigation is ongoing,” police said.
