A bicyclist was killed Monday by a hit-and-run motorist in Long Beach, and a search was continuing for a suspect.
The rider was struck at about 2:35 a.m. near Cowles Street and Santa Fe Avenue, where officers responded and found a man lying on the road, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the bicyclist was traveling west on Cowles Street when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that turned east onto Cowles from South Santa Fe Avenue.
The driver fled the scene without offering to render any assistance to the victim, police said.
The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
